A runner's race

During a race runners are looking straight forward. They are focusing on the prize. They are estimating how much further they have to run. However sometimes as they are running they turn their focus from the finish line to who's around them. How fast is the other person? Are they too close? Are they going to win? They remove their focus from the finish line to who's around them. How many times in life is God telling us to believe for something and as we begin to open our heart to the promise; we notice what's around us? God calls us to keep our eyes on Him and not to be distracted by our circumstances. We are called to strip off the things that slow us down
(Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.)

Sometimes as singles we become so focused with who's around us. We stop looking at the finish line because we start to believe that day will never come, and we allow ourselves to get distracted. As I've gotten older the Lord has shown me if I fix my eyes on the finish line and I keep running the race that He has put me in, giving everything I've got, then He will do whatever He needs to do. The finish line is Jesus. The finish line is focusing on the author and perfecter of our faith. Sometimes we try to jump the gun and we end up hurt, or we end up giving up along the way, because that wasn't what God really had for us. Sometimes we try so hard to make things happen, when really God is trying to show us that if we keep running and we stop focusing on who's ahead of us and behind us, then one day we'll look and see someone has been running along side of us at the same pace, encouraging us, and leading us to the finish line. As we run the same pace, we will make it to the finish line. Runners who start off running as fast as they can burn out, but the runners who find their pace and run, they find the finish line. Sometimes it's a windy day and running in the wind is hard, but that is when you tuck your chin down, and you run with your chin down towards the finish line. Don't you see if we tuck our chins down (we surrender, fix our eyes on him) and we keep running the race with faith and endurance, and we keep our eyes on Jesus, then and only then will that job come, that spouse come, that car come, that healing come, that forgiveness come, that restoration come, that opportunity that you have been believing so long for: will come.

Hebrews 12:2 -  We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.  Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

His promise to us is so much greater then our dream for the promise. We can't allow the promise to dictate who we believe the promise maker is. We can't allow our timing to condition His promise, only He does.

Condition: is  to have a significant influence on or determine (the manner or outcome of something).  Only He determines the outcome and the specific details and timing. Keep running race believing the promises of God, and keep trusting Him to bring the things you need along your path, who knows He may already have brought them and you just can't see it. Tuck your chin and run towards the finish line, and don't worry about anything else.. KEEP GOING!
