The Mountain top, Secret place, and the Shadow of His wings

I love how Jesus reacted to his followers.
In Matthew 14:13 Jesus found out about the death of John the Baptist. During this time Jesus withdrew and was going to a secluded place to be by himself. As Jesus tried to find a place of seclusion his followers continued to follow him. It's funny because I know if I were trying to find seclusion because someone I dearly loved was killed, then I probably would not want people following me. Can I be real? I don't think anyone would. But in verse 14 we see exactly how Jesus reacted.
14.When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick.
He felt compassion for them and he met their needs. Lets move on. As the passage continues 15 When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, “This place is desolate and the hour is already late; so send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”
The disciples have been traveling for long periods of time, so my guess is they wanted to rest, but still there is a crowd of people and they are hungry. The disciples were probably like "aight it's late, it's been a long day, and I want to sleep". How many times has it gotten late and we are getting ready to leave church, and then all of a sudden a need arises and you have to stay? You know exactly what I'm talking about. We see how Jesus reacts to the crowd Verse 16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat!”
Again we see Jesus have compassion for the crowd. He never got frustrated and he never told them to go away, but He told the disciples to feed them. In verse 17 the disciples tell Jesus that there is not enough food, and what is his response? 18. And He said, "Bring them to me."We see again that Jesus provided the need of the people. He didn't brush them off. He didn't tell them to fend for themselves, no He provided their every need.
Okay so you only have 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, okay give it to me. (My paraphrase). Jesus blesses what He DID have in is hands, and then He trusted his Father to multiply it. Jesus knew his Father supplies all needs for his children. (Philippians 4:19  And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.)
It hit me that Jesus was still trying to get away and have time of solitude by himself, but He didn't send the crowds away until after they were healed and fed. He didn't send them away until their needs were met. Then He sent his disciples away in the boat, the crowds away, and He went to the mountain by himself to pray.As I read this last part it hit me that Jesus met the needs of his people, but He resorted to a quiet time alone with his Father. We see this again in Luke 6:8-12 after Jesus heals the man with the withered hand. So after he met the needs of the people, then He would seclude himself to seek after the Father. If this is how Jesus lived out his ministry, then shouldn't we be running to the mountain top? Shouldn't we take our eyes off of us and look for the needs of the people? We can get so caught up in "Our" ministries that we forget that the only way that God can truly move in our lives and perform miracles is in the secret place; the mountain top. The words of wisdom and knowledge come from spending time on the mountain. Healing comes from spending time on the mountain. We ear His voice, that comes from spending time on the mountain. We see prayers answered, that comes from spending time on the mountain.

David said it best in Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most HighWill abide in the shadow of the Almighty.Your ministry is formed on the mountain, in your secret place, and when you are alone spending time with God. It's when you are at the feet of Jesus listening to His heart beat, that is where you are formed and that is where you will hear His voice. Everything else is just confirmation and overflow. Spend time on the mountain, spend time seeking after the Father's heart the same way that Jesus His son sought His will. Turn off the music, the cell phone, and hide away under the shelter of His wing, and let His heart speak to you.
