A special kind of mustard seed faith
The Lord has really been speaking to my heart about what He calls the mountain top. The mountain is where Jesus would separate himself to seek after the Father.
Matthew 17:14- 21
When they came to the crowd, a man came up to Jesus, falling on his knees before Him and saying, 15 “ Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is a lunatic and is very ill; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16 I brought him to Your disciples, and they could not cure him.” 17 And Jesus answered and said, “You unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring him here to Me.” Jesus then commands the spirit to leave the boy and the boy is healed. 18 And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured at once.
19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not drive it out?”. 20 And He *said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you. 21 [ But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”]
This is where Jesus talks to the disciples about their unbelief. The beginning of the story is when the father of the demon possessed boy comes falling on his knees pleading for Jesus to heal his son. This is also when the man tells Jesus that he brought the boy to the disciples, but they were not able to heal him. In the next verse we see Jesus's frustration with the unbelief of the disciples. He commands the deaf and mute spirit to leave, and the boy is healed. Later the disciples ask Jesus why they weren't able to him, and Jesus shares with tells them it is their lack of faith. He continues to share with them the power of a little bit of faith (the mustard seed size).
This kind of faith only comes out of prayer and fasting!
If we want to heal the sick, see miracles, signs and wonders then we have to go to the mountain.
We have to start believing in the word that we speak. We speak the word so easily over other's, but yet when it comes to our own lives we doubt. How does this work?
If we want to truly be used to the full potential that God created us for, then we have to start believing in the word that we preach. Miracles come from prayer and fasting which means spending time at the mountain in the secret place. The more we spend in His presence the more we are going to grow in our faith. When we step out and believe then our faith expands. He stretches us. The Bible says faith the size of a mustard seed! A mustard seed is not that big.
My question is this, what is God asking you to believe Him for? What is He asking you to trust Him and have faith in? He tells us to pray, fast, and to have faith. Believe!
Go to the mountain and seek His face.
Believe that God will do exactly what He said He would do.
